Wekeza Kwa Uhakika (WEKU Project)
May 2019 to March 2021
Project Overview
The WEKU Project aimed to enhance the design and structure of a multi-peril crop insurance product, raising awareness among smallholder farmers about the insurance value chain and improving their access to crop insurance. The project also sought to increase the understanding of value chain actors, such as TIRA, LGAs, and aggregators, on delivering crop insurance effectively to smallholder farmers.
Our Role in This Project
TAPBDS played a vital role by collaborating with Reliance Insurance Limited and National Insurance Corporation to create awareness, facilitate access to insurance, and enhance the delivery of crop insurance to smallholder farmers. TAPBDS’s efforts were crucial in ensuring smallholder farmers understood the benefits and processes of crop insurance, thereby improving their financial resilience.
